BACKGROUND

Resident Association Of NAMS (RAN) is a non-governmental, non-profit social organization and has been working in the welfare of resident doctors of National Academy Of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Kathmandu since 2064 B.S. It has its own vision, Mission, Goal, Objective, Theme and Activities. Out of its major themes advocating for the rights and welfare of resident doctors is the major responsibility of RAN. The total numbers of Residents associated with RAN are approx 500.

NAMS has started its residency Post-Graduate program since 2060 B.S. At present, resident doctors under NAMS are posted in Bir Hospital, National Trauma Centre, Kanti Children Hospital, Paropakar Women’s and Maternity Hospital, Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, Civil Hospital, Psychiatric Hospital, Lagankhel, Nepal Eye Hospital, Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, Koshi Hospital, Narayani Hospital, Bharatpur Hospital, Bheri Hospital, Biratnagar Eye Hospital, Lumbini Eye Institute, Bharatpur Eye Hospital and many other health institutes. After the establishment of RAN in 2064 B.S, this organization has been closely working with NAMS and its affiliated hospitals in the sector of resident’s rights, welfare and recreational activities.

Objectives of RAN

1. To Advocate for the rights and welfare of Resident Doctors of NAMS

2. To lead the rightful movements of Resident Doctors of NAMS

3. To work closely with different national and international health institutions for enhancing Resident Doctors academic activities E.g. Trainings, CMEs

4. To always encourage resident doctors for providing service to poor and needy patients

5. To closely monitor different academic activities of resident’s doctors posted in and out valley at different government hospitals of Nepal.
